Master Server will resolve the names for every hosts which we defined in the zone database and use UDP protocol, because UDP protocols never use the acknowledgement process while tcp uses acknowledgement.
DNS servers also use UDP protocols to resolve the query request at the earliest. (dot) at the end of the say to search the root server of namespace.
Our setup will use Debian Sarge 3.1 (stable) for its base.
A simple clean and up2date install will be enough since we will install the required packages with this howto.
Version: 1.0 - aug 23, 2006 In this howto we will install 2 bind dns servers, one as the master and the other as a slave server.
For security reasons we will chroot bind9 in its own jail.
Understanding DNS might be little confusing for newbies. Let’s say, if we need to access any website what we will do? Hmm that’s all we know, but the fact is, how pain DNS go through it, while querying for us. Globally there are 13 root servers available to resolve the query.
Right now it just waits for TTL expiration on the slaves. After creating your zone data files initially, it should be fairly apparent what you need to change when you add a new host. We'll go through the steps here in case you weren't the one to set up those files or if you'd just like a checklist to follow. When domain DNS settings in Plesk are being updated, zone file is updated in MS DNS, but zone is not transferred to slave BIND.Despite zone serial number is updated on the slave server, the zone content remains the same.
